1. To force government to abolish Printing and Publication Act
(一）逼使政府废除印刷和出版法令。

2. To force government to have manual guide to the media regarding
religious and racism issues
(二）逼使政府拥有媒体指南手册，尤其针对宗教及种 族课题。

3. To force government to abolish requirements for media company to
renew license to publish news paper every year
(三）逼使政府废除更新每年媒体执照。

4. To provide welfare benefits to NUJ Members especially insurance
coverage
（四）提供马来西亚新闻从业职工会会员更好福利设 施，特别是保险保障。

5. Creating NUJ Malaysia Presidential Council comprising President, 2
Vice President, Secretary General and eight branch chairman to monitor
newspapers that contravening journalism ethic especially issue
regarding race and religion
(五）成立会长理事会，其理事会必须包括总会长，二 位副总会长，总秘书以及八位支会主席。总会长理事会 将负责监督报章操守，以避免从业者违反媒体专业道 德，特别关于种族及宗教课题。

Pursuant to Rule 9.7 of the Union Constitution, the nominations for the election of officers for the period 2010-2012 were closed at 5pm on Friday, Sept 3, 2010.

Lorenzo Natali Prize 2010 - Prix Lorenzo Natali 2010 - Premio Lorenzo Natali 2010

We are very pleased to announce that the European Commission has officially launched the 18th edition of the Lorenzo Natali Prize !

You can apply on the website www.nataliprize2010.eu. Attached you will find the press release of the European Commission inviting all the journalists committed to Development, Democracy and Human Rights to take part in the Prize.

The Lorenzo Natali Prize concerns journalists working for media in one of the five following regions: Africa, Asia and Pacific, Latin America and the Caribbean, Europe and the Arab World and the Middle East. It rewards journalists for their work defending democracy and the Human rights within the Developing World. For the first time in 2008, the Lorenzo Natali Prize also involves radio and television journalists.

Each applicant can deliver ONE journalistic work or ONE extract of a journalistic work printed or aired between July 1st 2009 and June 30th 2010.

The seventeen laureates of the Lorenzo Natali Prize will be guests of honour of the European Commission during a stay in Brussels. Each laureate will receive a trophy and a prize. Overall 60,000 euros of prize will reward the best works.

Re : Branch Biennial General Meeting.

Pursuant to Rule 30 of the Union Constitution , all NUJ branches are required to hold their biennial general meetings between April 1 and June 30.

In accordance with Rule 30.2, the (branch) secretary is to issue a notice to all members calling for the biennial general meeting, calling for motions for discussion at the meeting, nomination for election of principal office bearers and delegates AT LEAST 28 days before scheduled branch meeting date.

Nomination shall open for the following positions: Chairman. Vice-Chairman, Secretary, Assistant Secretary, Treasurer and Committee Members (six positions)

Please include in the agenda for the election of five branch scrutineers and two internal auditors by show of hands respectively.

All branches are also required to inform the NUJ HQ on the dates of their respective branch biennial general meeting. The HQ will send a representative to (declare open) the meetings.

Please refer to the General Secretary or/and Executive Secretary for any clarification.

31ST NSK-CAJ FELLOWSHIP PROGRAMME

31ST NSK-CAJ FELLOWSHIP PROGRAMME

This is to inform all members that the above Fellowship Programme for this year will be held from June 17 to July 10, 2010.

One(1) member will be selected to represent NUJ Malaysia.

The NSK-CAJ Fellowship programme is an orientation programme for 14 Asean journalists, from Malaysia, Laos, Indonesia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam, planned and administered by Nihon Shinbun Kyokai (NSK) in co-operation with the Confederation of Asean Journalists (CAJ).

The aim is to enable Asean journalists to develop their professional proficiency and to promote closer understanding among journalists in Asean and Japan.

The Fellowship provides Fellows with return air-tickets and expenses for the duration of the programme.

SELECTION

Selection will be based on the merit of the applicant's course proposals and their ability to understand, speak and write English fluently. All applicants must be 35 years of age or below.

Preference will be given to applicants with more than three years of working experience as well as the willingness and ability to help the NUJ with a reciprocal orientation programme for young Japanese journalists.


The duration of the programme will be from June 27 to July 10, 2010. Member selected for the programme is required to obtain a statement from his/her employer supporting the application and giving leave of absence for the duration of the programme. The programme is financed by Nihon Shibum Kyokai (NSK, The Japan Newspaper Publishers & Editors Association).

The fellows will be requested to write articles on assigned topics related to the sessions and submit final reports individually to NSK, giving their evaluations and impressions of the seminars and Fellowship Program as a whole.

Members can contact their respective Branch Secretaries for application forms and further details. All applications must be submitted to the NUJ Secretariat by March 22, 2010 giving all details as required in the application form. In addition to the application form, applicants are required to write in not more than 1,000 words on any topic of current situation of Japan’s politics, the economy, diplomacy, industry, agriculture, culture and other areas, which may be essential for participants to grasp how Japan works.

RE: PHOTO COMPETITION IN CONJUNCTION WITH THE 16TH GENERAL ASSEMBLY CONFEDERATION OF ASEAN JOURNALISTS KUALA LUMPUR SEPT 30 – OCT 4, 2009

NUJ will be holding a photo competition in conjunction with the above event.

Competition is open to all NUJ members.

THEME: NEWS AND HUMAN INTEREST

All entries must be photos published in your respective newspapers from January 1, 2009 to August 31, 2009 and verified by the superior of your company.

Each participant can submit maximum 5 photos.

SIZE: Minimum 8 megapixel.

Entries must reach via email (nujmsia@streamyx.com), courier your CDs or send personally to the NUJ office as addressed below not later than 15 September 2009.
