马来西亚半岛新闻从业员职工会南洋商报分会声明

兹敬告全体会员,

事项:本会强烈谴责资方拒绝遵守公积金局新条例,变相剥削会员退休金恶劣行为!

鉴于会员今年1月分薪资单还是只注明雇主只缴纳了16%的公积金缴纳率,南洋商报分会数名执委因此在今年213日,针对政府指示雇主须自今年开始提高雇主公积金缴交率至13%的事项,要求会见人事部主管。

南洋分会劳资合约阐明,本会自198911日开始,与资方签署“大马南洋商报有限公司退休福利计划”,规定作为雇主的资方自1995101日开始,须以雇主身分替会员缴纳16%的公积金。

换句话说,在政府只规定国内资方只须替雇员缴纳12%公积金的情况下,南洋商报会员额外获得的4%公积金,即是属于资方提早给付会员的退休金。

有鉴于此,自政府规定雇员须替员工缴纳13%的新条例生效后,本会一致认为资方须自今年开始,替工会会员缴纳17%的公积金。

兹敬告全体会员,自本会执委向资方反映会员不满后,得到的答案竟是资方将维持现有公积金缴纳率,因为现有的16%,其实已超越政府所规定的13%

本会在此强烈谴责资方变相剥削会员退休金的作法,因为资方作法不只违反了政府要求资方进一步照顾雇员退休生活的指示,更有试图透过剥削会员退休福利的方式,来满足本身理应遵守政府法令的责任。

本会在此促请全体会员全力支持本会在未来所采取的任何行动,因为一旦任由资方变相剥削会员的退休福利,难保往后政府再要求资方进一步提升公积金缴纳率时,资方再采取同样的理由搪塞,导致“大马南洋商报有限公司退休福利计划”形同虚设,会员的权益逐步遭到侵蚀。

最后,惟有团结一致,工会才会更强大,因此本会再次促请会员有钱出钱,有力出力,支持工会近期启动的募款行动,壮大工会!

移交500令吉特惠金予另两名退休会员

事项:移交500令吉特惠金予另两名退休会员

自总会在今年三月开始调升会费至10令吉,并将其中2令吉分配至新成立的福利基金后,本会至今已有3名退休会员受惠。

这3名会员分别为冯运达、冯国芳及潘正联。至于另一名退休会员张国强的惠特金,本会也已向总会申请。

总会福利基金的其中一个发放对象,即是凡是加入工会5年以上,并在今年3月后退休的会员,都符合申领500令吉特惠金的资格。

特惠金的申请程序非常简单,符合资格会员只须将馆方发出的退休信函,复印一份交至南洋商报分会秘书处即可。

RM500.00特惠金

总会自今年三月开始调升会费至10令吉后,也将其中2令吉分配至新成立的福利基金。

本基金的其中一项发放对象,即是凡是加入工会5年以上,并在今年3月开后退休的会员,都符合领取500令吉特惠金的资格。

本会将在近期内,向全体会员汇报福利基金的其他用途,例如会员入院福利及白事等。

致全体会员:

马来西亚半岛新闻从业员职工会总会的人事变动

谨此通知NUJ总会长哈达瓦哈里(Ha’ta Bin Wahari)已于今年5月31日起,辞去总会长职。

总会中央执行委员会于当天的会议上,一致通过由原任副总会长的陈城周,接任总会长一职。

也是《马来西亚前锋报》高级记者哈达在去年举行的第十七届会员代表大会中,击败同样来自该报的候选人赛夫里占,中选为总会长。

他在上任之后多次以总会长身分发表捍卫新闻自由的言论,同时大胆地公开批评其雇主《前锋报》,但却于今年3月遭《前锋报》以破坏公司名誉和形象,遭冻结职位多个月,哈达最终在公司的内部听证会上被判定8项罪名成立而被辞退。

根据1959年职工会法令第二条文,一名职工会领袖若因被僱主革职就自动丧失担任资格,在考量NUJ尚要继续运作的情况下,哈达自愿辞去其职位。

NUJ对哈达的遭遇除了深表遗憾,也将对他被裁退的桉件继续提供法律援助。

新任总会长陈城周从2000年起担任星洲媒体集团分会主席至今,他除了在分会非常活跃外,还一直在总会担任要职,经验丰富。他在2002年总会改选中,在无对手的情况下当选副总会长至今。

NUJ总会的人事变动将不会影响各分会的运作。

“物价高涨,薪水几时起?”

(吉隆坡1日讯)高喊“物价高涨,薪水几时起?”主题的第十七届国际劳动节和平集会,今早未举行便面对警方镇压,约18人,包括社会主义党和丰区国会议员再也古玛、总秘书阿鲁仄万和财政西华拉惹等被押上警车。

不过,参与集会的非政府组织代表说,今早仍有约500人出席集会,并完成预定的各项节目。

主办当局原本号召人们于今早10时30分在秋杰路单轨火车站集合,然后游行至独立广场发表演说、唱歌和宣读今年劳动节工人宣言,可是,穿红色T-恤的参加者在秋杰路吃早餐后,步出餐馆时,便被警方扣查

乘单轨火车抵达秋杰路站的集会者,一出来便被在场驻守的警员劝告马上离开,阿鲁仄万等人在10时30分抵达时,警方也劝他们立刻解散,由于阿鲁仄万坚持不肯离开,对媒体发言后,与西华拉惹一道被押上警车。

其他集会者收到阿鲁仄万等人被捕的消息后,分头涌往秋杰路附近的Maju Junction购物广场继续集会,发表演讲、唱国际歌和宣读今年劳动节工人宣言,过后再也古玛被警方逮捕。

金马警区主任祖卡奈英说,警方逮捕18名参与非法集会者,并援引1967年警察法令第27条文调查,有关条文赋权警察管制集会和发出准证。 他说,警方将向有关人士录口供,过后在今天或明天释放他们。

阿鲁仄万说,筹办集会的单位之前已致函警察总长丹斯里依斯迈及祖卡奈英,说明今天将举行和平集会。

五一劳动节集会始于1994年,五一委员会有12个成员,今年获得60个非政府组织的响应,号召500人参与游行集会。 该委会成员包括全国大专生团结阵、社会主义党、人民之声协调员及受压迫人民阵线等。

马来西亚半岛新闻从业员职工会(NUJ)为庆祝成立50周年,特于5月21日举办“2011年马来西亚半岛新闻从业员职工会寻宝游戏”。

主办当局也希望透过寻宝游戏,促进会员之间的联系,以及与相关国会议员的友谊,并相信本次游戏有助推广本地,特别是马六甲的旅游景点。

NUJ ONE MALAYSIA TREASURE HUNT 2011

*INTRODUCTION

Treasure hunt is increasingly becoming a popular recreational sports among people as a way to test their mental and physical endurance while offering knowledge, especially for the participants.

This activity is also seen as promoting the route/area among the participants, consisting of reporters and photographers under the auspices of the National Union of Journalists (NUJ) Malaysia.

Additionally, the participants will have a closer interaction with the public, especially residents, members of parliament and members of the state assembly as they drive through these areas.

At the same time, participants will gain an insight into development or programmes undertaken by elected representatives in the areas they are passing through.

For your information, this event is organised by the National Union of Journalists (NUJ) Malaysia.

*OBJECTIVE
· The treasure hunt will be held in May year in conjunction with the 50th anniversary of the establishment of the National Union of Journalists (NUJ) Malaysia. It is the culmination of the anniversary programme involving media practitioners under the auspices of the NUJM.

· To strengthen the friendship between the participants and members of parliament and residents.

· Participants will also bounce ideas with each other as they strategise the game.

· To expose the participants to the development taking place in the country as they traverse the more than 300km route through Kuala Lumpur, Bangi, Seremban, Port Dickson, Rembau, Alor Gajah, Masjid Tanah, Tangga Batu, Ayer Keroh, Jasin and finally, Melaka Raya

· The treasures will be donated to a representative from an orphanage and other charitable bodies, who will be identified and invited to the prize-giving ceremony.

· To assist the Tourism Ministry in promoting the domestic tourism industry. This is also a chance to introduce the customs of rural areas to participants.

· Assisting the Malacca government in promoting the state, which is Unesco World Heritage site.

*PARTICIPANTS
A total 70 cars have been identified to take part involving mainly journalists, photographers and graphic designers under the auspices of the National Union of Journalists (NUJ) Malaysia.

They include journalists/photographers/graphic artists from The Star, New Straits Times Press, Utusan Malaysia, Kosmo, Utusan Karya, The Sun, Sin Chew, Nanyang Siang Pau and Kwong Wah. Participants will be charged RM100 a car.

Representatives from TV3, ntv7, RTM, Bernama TV, Channel Network Asia, China Press and Tamil Nesan will be provided ONE car as GUESTS. They are charged RM100 per car as commitment fee. Free participation for those who are invited to cover the event.

The involvement of media representatives is to promote and highlight the activities and programmes organised by the NUJM.

The treasure hunt is divided into two categories: MEMBERS Category members of the National Union of Journalists (NUJ) Malaysia and the GUESTS Category which consists of NUJ invitees as well as representatives from sponsors.

Sponsors are entitled to a free car for a sponsorship of RM10,000.

*CONCEPT
Participants are asked to answer 30 questions on current affairs, elected representatives, products from the area and landmarks along their route (signs). They also have to answer and purchase FIVE treasure points, and three questions regarding the Road Safety Council (RSC).

For each correct answer, participants receive five points, 10 points for the treasure hunt and two points for the RSC question.

Each team is represented by no more than four people, including the driver, guide and two passengers. They must observe all traffic rules, failing which marks will be deducted.

Each team is required to participate in three local sports to be held at certain locations, namely:
· At Complex Japerun Taboh Naning, Alor Gajah - (batu Seremban/ blowpipe);
· At Japerun Complex Sungai Rambai, Jasin - (coconut bowling);
· At Abadi Hotel, Melaka Raya - (drop the milk can)
- 10 maximum points for each event.

*Each group will be given 8 hours to comple the journey that will start at 8am and arrive at the finishing line before 4pm. A 30-minute injury time is included. The first five minutes delay on reaching the finishing line will face a 10-point deduction, 10 minutes (20 points) and those who are 30 minutes late, will be disqualified.

NOTICE: SUBSCRIPTION INCREASE AND CONTRIBUTIONS FOR NUJ BENEVOLENT FUND

Pursuant to Rule 4.1 of the NUJ Constitution and Certificate of Registration, Amendment to Rules and Regulations Trade Unions Act 1959 Regulation 16 (2), we hereby announce that the cuts in fees, monthly fees and contributions to the welfare fund below takes effect on March 1, 2011 as decided by the Executive Council NUJM on Feb 24, 2011.

RULE 4: SUBSCRIPTIONS AND ARREARS

1. The subscriptions payable shall be as follows: -

Entrance fee … RM 10.00
Monthly Subscription for members ... RM 10.00
For Associate members ... RM 6.00

RM2 from the monthly subscription for each member will be deposited into the Welfare Fund not later than fourteen (14) days the following month.
